ART seminar
Today I took my ART test for the lower extremity and passed!! It was pretty difficult. I feel like the person I had testing me gave me 4 of the harder protocols in the book. Now that its all over I can use ART on the lower extremity anywhere I go. The teaching and hands on experience was great and everyone was very helpful. If you're thinking about taking the classes, ART is definetly worth the price tag.

Up to speed
Now to bring you guys up to speed. We came back from Hawaii and I went back to school. School has been more relaxed this term, I think since its the summer quarter, but I hear that the next couple of quarters the classes are going to get harder and the expectations raised. Today is the end of week 7 and next week I have a neurophysiology test on monday and a pathology test on friday. Also I have a seminar in ART or active release technique from thursday thru sunday. ART is a soft tissue technique that helps to release fibrotic nodules and trigger points by pinning for instance a muscle with a trigger point in it and then the patient will stretch their muscle to help release the trigger point. The guy who invented the technique is a Chiropractor who uses it on a lot of athletes and has gotten good results.
Here is one pilot study that was done on ART if you want to check it out

Some facts
Currently I am a 4th quarter student and plan to graduate in the fall of 2012. Classes are scheduled from 7:30am until 5:30pm 5 days a week. The quarters are 11 weeks long with a 2 week break in between. There are 12 quarters total and you can take them in either 3 quarter chunks with a summer break in between and finish in 4 years or go throughout the summer and finish in 3 years. I plan on finishing in three years and then I will be a Doctor of Chiropractic. On this blog I will share with you some of the things that I am learning in school, questions and answers about my life and the Chiropractic profession. Thanks for checking out my blog!
More Hawaii
Here is a pic of the Hawaii state fish the Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa. I know right.
One day we went to the Hawaiian cultural center to partake in a luau, cold smoothies from a pineapple as well as watching some cool fire dancing.
You guys have to see this shrimp that we got. I guess they have these shrimp shacks all over the north shore and all they serve is shrimp. Mmmmmmmmm...Now doesn't that look good!
